I need to sort a list of names in Excel by last names. There are first and Middle name in separate columns. How do I accomplish this?

If the last name is all by itself in a column then sort by that column first and the first and middle name column second. Since that is so simple you must not be asking the right question.

Looks like you have a good database format ... no blank columns and no blank rows, with headers.

Put your cursor in the top left corner of the database.  Select DATA from the menu bar, then SORT.  Make sure the radio box MY DATA HAS HEADERS is selected.  Then in SORT BY select "Last Name".  Then click OKAY.

If you want additional sorting, for example sort by last name and then by first name, click ADD LEVEL and then select the appropriate "sort by".
