How do you control output of 2 pin RGB LED using data sheet?

Here’s what the data sheet gives:

Color Changing Scheme: R->G->B->RG->GB->RB->RGB at 0.3Hz

If you apply a constant DC voltage the LED will change colors using the pattern above.  But, the instructor says modulating the DC is how you can produce any color on demand.  He said you can program a micro controller to read a variable resistor so that the light only flashes the desired color.  Does anyone know where I can find some example code for Arduino that can do this or at least get me started in the right direction?

Here’s what I’ve figured out so far:

1) 1.3 Hz at 50% duty cycle = flash blue

2) 1.3 Hz at 25% duty cycle = flash green

No clue how to make it only flash red, white, yellow, gold, or any of the other colors in the demonstration video.
