What causes humans to be immoral ?

I would suggest evolutionary biology. Animals compete for shelter, food and water. and fertile mates. Often killing is the only way an ape can secure their own resources and basic will to procreate. Humans behave the same way,Wars, muggings, manipulation , murder enter in and the occasional nut case who is broken and this is usually a result of repeated trauma. The Old Testament says it was Adam and Eve eating fruit from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. Prior to this they had all they wanted except access to this. This may be an allegory or it may be truth . At any rate, animals are capable of being to varying degrees good and evil. One of my cats pushes everyone else for the food even when she has her own dish. Most of our behaviors are the result of our own nature. She is the fattest cat.I have been preaching to her about how gluttons end up in the lake of fire but she consistently ignores me to steal food, block the water dish and attack our sleeping male cat who just dumbs around like a mellow fellow.Source(s): My source is based on personal observation and anecdote.

If a person continues to dwell on improper longings and ‘tears them out’ of his mind, then he will succumb to immoral behavior.

All humans are sinners before God. Until we face up to that fact, we will deal with the vexed question of our immorality in ways to suit ourselves, but not to admit to God that we are sinners. Morality will be a fluid thing, adapting to whatever suits the individual or the society they live in and the more ungodly they and society are, the more immorality will abound. Here's a quote: "God is holy in character and is righteous in all His ways. An absolute standard is affirmed. There is no 'situation ethic' with God: no bending back of integrity to fit what we may deem to be convenient: no compromise. In fact, the entire thesis of the Bible stands or falls at this very point. If the moral confusions of a pluralistic, multi-faith, consumerist society may be validated by adapting principles, willy nilly, to every wandering star of fashion, then surely the Bible has nothing but its own pennyworth of suggestion to throw into the kitty of daft ideas!" Rev. Guy R. Finnie, Portsmouth Baptist Church mag. p2, January 1999

To be honest, it's hard to say for every individual. It could be genetic or environmental factors that cause humans to be immoral. You never hear about animals acting immoral.

We humans have to balance our social urges against selfishness because both types of urges are useful and necessary at different times in different situations. In a society full of totally unselfish people, a selfish person would be at a great advantage. In a society full of selfish people, a socially conscious person who binds together with other socially conscious people would be at a great advantage. Game theory explains all this in a mathematical way.

Not made in the image of God:
1. Man was "MADE(evolved), not in God's image, millions of years ago.
2. Adam and Eve were "CREATED(not made) in God's image about eleven thousand years ago.
Adam and Eve were CREATED to teach, not mate(forbidden fruit) with mankind . If you mate with mankind you die(lose supernatural powers).
