on mybookie I'm placing a $1,200 dollar bet, it says if I win I get $1,320 - does that mean I'd only get $120?

Or does it mean I get back my $1,200 + the $1,320 I'm supposed to win?

It means that to win $120, you have to bet $1,200.

You gained $120. Sounds really inefficient

I don't think so. This algorithm I mentioned is betting on the underdog. It says betting on the favorite I would win 800 something if I put up 1200.  I don't think winning a bet would entail losing 400. It must mean that I keep the 1200 plus the winning figure.
