How common is the name “Rhiannon” in the UK?

I was once told by an online welsh friend that there it is as common as the name Sarah. Is that true?

It's reasonably common in Wales, very much less so elsewhere in the UK. Overall in the UK Sarah/Sara is much more common.

Amongst the Welsh it is true.

'Rhiannon' is a Welsh female christian name.

    Nope

In SE England / London, there are far more Sarahs than Rhianons

It was quite common among girls born in the mid 70's when Fleetwood Mac released the song. It's still around today but not as common as Sarah (oddly enough another Fleetwood Mac song).

It's a well-known Welsh name, but is not common generally in the UK.
