why do some married couples don't wear their wedding rings? is that normal?

Increasingly normal, I think. There are two couples in my family (late 30's) who had tattoos a decade ago and never wore rings at all. They are on opposite sides of the family and have never met.

Some simply don't like wearing rings.
Some don't wear wedding rings because of their culture.
Some don't wear their wedding rings because of the physical work they do.
Some don't feel the need for an outward sign of their commitment to the other.
Some take off the ring when the relationship is troubled.
Some take off the ring hoping to be seen as free for another relationship - because of wanting to cheat.
Some may have fancy rings, take them off to wash their hands or do dirty work and forget to put them back on.
Lots of different reasons for lots of different individuals. If it concerns you, ask the person directly.

They can’t afford it. Wedding bands ain’t cheap.
Their jobs makes it uncomfortable or cumbersome to wear.
I think it’s a Christian thing. Not all cultures have couple wearing bands to say they’re married.
Some people don’t like wearing rings. It’s like putting a collar on a dog. It’s for their own good but they don’t like it.
