In the 1970s the A's used to have fireworks for homeruns but then they stopped. What was the reason? I want to see fireworks at A's games.?

Probably cost them too much money.

As with most businesses, it comes down to cost. Not enough people feel the way you do to make them worthwhile.

I'm from that generation (saw my first game in '74) so I remember those fireworks.

Total guess on my part but it likely was the work of then-owner Charles Finley. He came up with all sorts of gimmicks to help create a fun atmosphere for fans attending A's games during that time.

From parading his donkey "Charlie O" around the field pre-game to having a rag-time/jazz band entertaining fans during the game to fireworks going off for every A's home run to various promotion days including "Hot Pants Day".

Finley was a one-of-a-kind owner, for better or worse.

I wonder what year the fireworks stopped?
