Is “I am out of the office” (with no mention of date of return) a substantial auto-email reply for an employee who is on jury duty?

Unless there is something different required by organizational policy, it should suffice in that it tells that the person is unavailable and why.

I would add 'please contact another member of the department (give a name is possible), as I do not know when I will return'.

Why not say "I am on jury duty and do not know when I will return".

If they are on jury duty, they may not know how long they'll be on jury duty. Even a simple trial can take days.
