Why is it so easy to draw parallels between the 2020 Democratic and 2016 Republican primary?

Bernie Sanders -- Donald Trump : Nominally anti-establishment figures (although Trump lied about it) with grassroots armies and a huge social media following, who the establishment and media are desperately trying to prevent from winning, but would ultimately fail (although for Trump, the establishment loves him now)

Joe Biden -- Jeb Bush : Establishment figures who the media propped up big time but collapsed very early on

Pete Buttigieg -- Marco Rubio : Young figures who are pro-establishment and the media will back them before they collapse soon after the original establishment candidates of Biden and Bush

Amy Kloubuchar -- John Kasich :  Another establishment insurance policy, older and more boring, but will also collapse

Elizabeth Warren -- Ted Cruz : People nominally similar to the front-runners but are more willing to work with the establishment, who prop them up as a last ditch effort before they inevitably collapse too

Why are there so many parallels?

Bernie Sanders has grown in popularity with the American People because he is saying something that they really want to hear.  And it doesn't matter what you or I think of his message, The American People want it.

America is at a crossroads whereby either we are going for Trump's anti-American vision for us or we are going with Bernie's return to Old Fashioned Roosevelt Democrat policies.

People want change.  they are tired of the wealthy continuing to receive tax cuts and go-byes for criminal activities.  They believe that working people have rights to certain privileges and that taxation should be fairly regulated.

The Democratic Party has no message and doesn't know what the majority of voters want from the federal government.  So sorry, but I am not seeing any parallels.  I did see that Sanders in 2016 kind of had a feeling for what the voters were looking for out of Federal Government.  But, the DNC squashed it because Hillary bought her candidacy.  The DNC is still reeling from that move.

America will not tolerate a commie in the White House no matter how much the delusional left endorses same.  That ideology is toxic and only traitors who hate this country would push for it.  Luckily there are more sane Americans than insane ones.

There are some parallels but the non-Sanders candidates are stronger than the non Trump Republicans were in 2016.

Also, unlike Trump, Sanders can't win with a minority.  Trump was helped immensely by Republican primary rules which allowed a front runner to win all of a states delegates without having to get even a majority of the vote.  In the Democratic primary the delegates are awarded basically proportionally, and this means that Sanders can't do what Trump did and coast along on a plurality of support from dedicated followers while his opponents remain divided.  He actually has to get a majority of the vote.

The parallels I see is the results of the National election, Trump wins again. Bernie blames Democrats for not supporting Communism.

Because people are sick and tired of Neoliberalism and want to do anything that goes against the kíkes who are pushing this disgusting ideology on us against our will. Bernie is the anti-establishment candidate this time around. He is the one who poses the biggest threat to Jewish power in the United States despite the fact that he is himself a Jew. That’s why the Jewish media hates him so much

No, he is a Jewish Bolshevik. They fear that a Bernie presidency will expose them.

Bernie is as much of a populist as Trump. I don't know why Trump wants to run against him. The Donald should be careful what he wishes for.
