What kind of stamps were used in the Stamp Act?

I remember learning about the Stamp Act way back in Elementary School, but I don't think any of my teachers ever said whether they were sticker stamps or ink stamps.

I have or had one of the tax stamps from the Stamp Act. Basically just a stamp with glue on the back that was put on every piece of commercial paper. 1 1/2 cents if I remember correctly.

They were ink stamps, but the "Stamp Act" referred more to what the stamp MEANT ("the manufacturer has paid the correct duty, so we are going to give this load a stamp of approval), but I think you knew that and are trying (and failing) to be "funny".
