we called it Gap wedge these days. because it is a gap between a pitching wedge and a sand wedge. for example your sand wedge is a club for 80 yards. your pitching wedge is for 120 yards. A gap wedge is a club for 100 yards.
the loft can be between 48 to 52 depending on the company who made the iron set. For example, Taylormade made an iron set between 4 to PW. The Pitching wedge's loft is about 43.5 degree. The loft of the gap wedge or attack wedge should be around 49 degree.
