Should you do exercise after a concussion?

No would be the obvious answer, but i'm still wondering why.

When I was maybe 11 I had a mild concussion after I slipped and hit my head at swim practice. I didn't really feel anything other than a light pain in the back of my head right after, so I continued swimming for the rest of the practice.

Looking back at it, it probably wasn't the best idea. But, I was 11 so you can't really blame me.

I don't have any permanent damage from it, fortunately. My question is, what could have happened if I had a more severe concussion? Or if I did more vigorous exercise after it?

I was reading a book and the topic of concussions came up so I guess I'm just curious.

There's a risk of re-injuring it, esp with head injuries and concussions. You were lucky.
