A .44 What? If you are speaking of modern cartridges you can purchase today, a .44 Magnum is more powerful than a .44 Special (the parent cartridge of the .44 Magnum) and the .44-40 Winchester.
A .45 Colt (and a .45 Automatic Colt Pistol) is more powerful than a 9mm

The 44 magnum has a longer case to hold more powder, and the gun is designed to handle a more powerful ammunition

Both are the same but the bullet with the longest name is usually most powerful.

A .44 S&W Special's bullet flies through the air at around 910 feet per second.A .44 Magnum bullet flies through the air at around 1320 feet per second. The Magnum flies faster and will be more destructive due to its lengthened case which allows for more powder. The Magnum is more powerful.
They're actually 42 caliber bullets due to the .427 diameter of the bullets. It may be .429 depending.

The 44 magnum averages 1,450 FPS at the muzzle. The 44 averages a little over 900 FPS at the muzzle. The actual FPS can vary based on the ammunition and the barrel length.
