So you are researching family history OR are you word hunting as the two have nothing at all to do with each other.
Family history you start with yourself and the records you already have at home, so your own birth certificate which proves you and your parents, their marriage and/or birth certificate proves them and their parents...so with as little as 2 records you can prove three generations of your family history and you will have more than two records to research , this also teaches you how to research and prove https://familytimeline.webs.com/recordsinyourownho...
Surnames are just words and all words come from language origins, they were chosen/given just like first names still are, so not unique to 'one family' and word huntimg doesn't help you find out anything at all about YOUR family history

www.findagrave.com has 2,466 entries for dead ones in the USA.
www.familysearch.org has just over half a million records for the surname. The collection "Mexico Baptisms, 1560 - 1950" has over 63,000 records.
You had 16 great great grandparents. Only one was born a Medrano, unless someone married a cousin, and only two died a Medrano, assuming they stayed married until death parted them.
