Can birds fly in space?

    Sure. The earth is "in space" and the birds are on the earth, within the earth's atmosphere...

    If you're asking if birds can fly in inter-planetary space, no. In order to fly, there needs to be lift and drag on the bird wings. With no air in interplanetary space, there is no lift or drag.

    The only way a bird could fly in space is if it is in an environment with enough air - like a space station - which is environmentally controlled and has enough air to allow the wings to use the principles of lift and drag.

    Yes and no. They can, but they need to wear little space suits with an oxygen supply. The suits are very heavy - but of course the reduced gravity in space partially offset this. The main problem is that the suits restrict their movement and also adversely affect their aerodynamics. So in theory, yes they can. But in practice it's very difficult for them. There also isn't any food in space, so ultimately they starve.
