In high school and college volleyball, are volleyball players supposed to serve the ball overhanded or underhanded?

The NFHS rules that govern high school volleyball state that a player may serve either under or overhand, but most coaches would want players to serve overhand for better movement and speed of the served ball. Every college player pretty much serves overhand, although there may be some that use the roundhouse serve which is more of a sidearm serve.

The player serving the ball must stand behind the end line, aka restraining line, at the back of the court until after they have contacted the volleyball.
To serve a player hits* the ball with their hand over the net and into the opposing team's side.
*Hitting the volleyball illegally - you must strike the ball in a manner such that you don't hold the ball or palm, carry, or throw it.
