It's clearly not "myth," since the article explicitly gives examples.
The amounts produced as by-products of industrial processes depends entirely on how much of those processes occur. And the point of the whole thing is that it's already being produced -- and then wasted, rather than being recovered.
The last process mentioned, wind-powered electrolysis of water, has no practical limit.
