    The problem is, homosexuals are ashamed of who they are, and they try to veil their shame by adopting the word gay as a label.

    It's ignorant, but it's not necessarily 'homophobic'.

    A lot of kids grow up throwing around terms like 'gay' and 'f@ggot' as insults before they even know what they refer to - as they get older they continue to do it unthinkingly.

    Yes, if done seriously and with intent to inflict verbal pain upon the person you are "insulting".

    Depends. Are you LGBT? Are you being serious, or joking? Are you using it to intentionally hurt someone? I could call my friend a fag, but that wouldnt make me a homophobe personally, because I'm LGBT and it not like im trying to hurt their feelings
