I used to teach gun safety in our Alaskan elementary schools along with a week long survival class.  That has been phased out thanks to lawyers and the gun free zones.  Now out rate tweens - kids 7-11 getting hurt is going back up.

Thing is - there are not enough animals in United States to support everyone going out and 'getting theirs'.  In Alaska we have a system where people who live in the middle of no-where get first crack while folks who live in cities rely on a lottery like system for big game. In the middle of no where - you can take 5 caribou a day - these are freaking bigger than white tail but smaller than elk...… after you used the first 5 tags they will give you, your wife, and kids five more each.    City folks - 1 bull a year.

Survival?  You don't want all those folks hauling junk into the woods and creating a mess with garbage and human excrement all over.  Honestly, it would be cheaper to build barracks like structures and let volunteer groups run them.

That - and those homeless folks need for than a dry tent and sleeping bag.  Food, place to cook it, place to eat it, place to do laundry, along with drugs, medical, dental,  - basically they NEED to get reintroduced into having a life again.

I like how you think.  Keep at it.  Eventually someone like you is going to find a solution that works well!!!!

Nope.  They killed off all of the bison in the 1800s.  There is not enough wild animals to feed everyone.  That is why there are cattle and hogs..  Food can be brought into them so that they can live much denser than wild animals.

    Then we wouldn't need welfare.

No, there will always be people who would rather mooch off others than put in the work them selves.

Unless people were forced to live like that, the easier route will usually be taken.

if everyone learned to hunt and survive, we'd all be at a stand still
