Do nations have charts? Possibly. There are problems.  If we see inception as the correct time for a chart, then when does a nation begin?  Notably the USA has several proposed charts, most, but not all, cast for July 4 1776, at different times.  Others have proposed the Battle of Bunker Hill, the ratification of the Articles of Confederation, the ratification of the US Constitution, and so on.  So if we say nations have charts, we have to admit the difficulty of determining with any certainty what that chart is. July 4 has one thing going for it.  That makes the USA a Cancer Nation and some see the US as overwhelming, a Cancer trait. Using whole signs that puts Aries as the 10th sign.

Another possibility suggested is this:  the nation's chart is the natal chart of the current leader.  It was suggested in the times of absolute monarchy, when the King's chart pretty much determined how things would go for the nation.  It is probably less effective in a democratic republic like the USA or nations that freely elect their leaders. Can we see the US as Leo rising  with Mars on the ASC at the moment?  Some would say yes.

One of the 1776 charts has the US with Sagittarius rising.  This fits the expansion of the 19th century and general optimism that is an American trait, or was until about 10 years ago.  It's reverting back.

Another of the 1776 charts has Scorpio rising and Scorpio is Mars ruled.  I don't see this as a good fit at all, but many do. That's another problem - judging common traits for a nation of over 300 million people.

Traditionally England is considered an Aries nation as are other places on earth. Mundane astrology or more correctly called Political Astrology, is not simple and clearly not as simple as assigning a single sign for all time.
