Why was Qasem Soleimani so popular to the Iranian people?

    He fought in the lranian RevoIution, so he's kind of Iike their version of our Founding Fathers. He heIped Iead the army against Saddam Hussein in the lran-lraq war. He cut off supply of opium coming into the country from Afghanistan (which was transported to Turkey and then Europe). Then he became leader of the Quds Force, which is kind of Iike their version of the CIA mixed with the Marines. Some referred to him as "Father of lran" and things Iike that, aIthought l think that's an exaggeration.
