Bach party = Bride or groom to be has a "night on the town" with his or her circle of "let's party" type friends. Sometimes a quieter activity like a fishing trip or seeing a show is substituted for the "club hopping" or "exoctic dancer" type party.

Shower = someone offers to host a special kind of party where bride, groom, or couple are Guest(s) of Honor. The general format for a traditional shower is that each guest is required to bring a gift for the Guest(s) of Honor. In return for the gift, each guest gets light refreshments, silly games with silly prizes, a "watch the gifts be opened" interval, and finally a chance at one or more door prizes.

A bach party is generally more for the younger crowd and close friends, a sort of "last night ever to do this single person type stuff, so make the most of it" party. A shower is for all ages and includes people the bride or groom wouldn't include in a "go to a stripper show" party like the future spouse's mom, like old aunties.

They're both parties preceding a wedding but the bachelorette party is very lued riské.  I personally don't want a bachelorette party seems like trouble something always happens when I go to clubs or parties... I would have to have an alternative like a spa day.  And of course the shower is what I'm looking for Ward to having.

Yes - to get drunk and get more presents. You don't have to have either one if you don't want to.

Not necessarily. A bachelorette party could be for an engagement announcement.

No they are completely different.  The shower is a group of friends and those in the wedding to give gifts ahead of time appropriate for the couple's new life and things for use in the house/apartment.

A bachelorette party is totally different and usually the bride and her closest friends go out and have a good time at a bar, etc.  Sometimes they go to a male strip place where the men strip down to thongs.  Its a time for celebrating just the "girls" and can get quite wild at times.  The brides mother and grandmother or aunts, etc. usually will not be invited to that kind of party.

A bridal shower is held way before the wedding date.  Usually aunts, grandmothers, are invited along with bridesmaids and friends. This is a gift giving event.

A bachelorette party is usually held the week of the wedding. It started out for the bridesmaids. But has developed into invited friends too. It is not a gift giving event. It is for a fun time together. A night out on the town.

Wedding showers originated back when women lived with their parents until they got married.    A wedding shower was a party to "shower" the bride with gifts meant to set up her first home.   Showers are gift-giving events.

Bachelor parties are just parties - often to celebrate the groom-to-be's last night of freedom.   In recent years, women decided they could have these kinds of parties too.

    Gender roles die hard.

Wedding shower is a 100% gift grab

Bachelorette is more a girls night out occasion, no gifts required

A wedding shower is given for the bride and people buy her gifts. a bachelorette party is when she gets together with her friends to celebrate her last days of being single. It's all about partying usually.
