    Where do you shop?

Older people often set their unwanted furniture and other items out the door or do backyard sale.

You can negotiate the price next to nothing.

    Check Craigslist and Facebook marketplace.

Do some research. Bear in mind that few people actually filled their homes with Memphis furniture (few could afford to) but there were so many looks around that you have to make a decision whether it is the neon-Post Modernist look or the Laura Ashley, Charleston Farmhouse inspired palette, the pastel Deco revival or the all-white monochrome minimalism.  The world is your lobster.

Depends.  Do you want 1985 modern or 1985 country.  If modern, you're going to use a teal and mauve color-scheme.  If country, you're going to use an orange color scheme.  If modern, you're going to find an oversize couch and throw a sheet over it that you've strewn teal, mauve, and other pastelle colors all over like a Pollack painting.  If country, you're going to find a wooden couch with rough, chunky arms and a rough chunky ottoman to put in front of it, then put cushions on it upholstered in velour and decorated with an orangey wagon wheel print.  If modern, you're going to get a few very large prints of geometric shapes in mostly mauve, teal, and gray and put them in skinny brass frames and hang them on pure white walls that are otherwise left empty to remain minimalist.  If country, you're going to get a bunch of landscape prints and put them in chunky oak frames and hang them on beige walls next to oak Home Interiors candle sconces and oak Home interior wall shelves with Precious Moments figurines on them to such extent that the walls look positively cluttered.  If modern, you're going to lay down white, off-white, or beige plush carpet.  If country, you're going to lay down orange or brown (or even better, orange and brown) sculpted carpet.  Whether modern or country, you're going to want to find an oak bentwood rocker with caning to put centrally in the room.

Think of a movie back from 1985 . Back to future the movie comes to my mind .

The breakfast club was another. Get some posters from such movies from 1985
