If a president can just block witnesses and evidence in his impeachment trial, doesn't impeachment become a nullity?

Could this have been what the framers wanted?

The House has already impeached. So they already have all the evidence they need. If they need more then was the impeachment unsafe? As in, it really required more evidence?

What he's doing is illegal, according to the Supreme Court case: United States vs. Nixon.  Look it up!

the dems could have called all the witnesses they wanted during their hearings in the house but never called in the whistleblower

The framers expected impeachment to be rare and used only in exceptional circumstances.

It wouldn't be much of a Democracy if the will of the people expressed in an election when they chose the President could be disregarded and over ruled by a small elite group of Senators.

Why even bother having Presidential Elections if the Senate can over rule them.

Why not just have the Senators elect the President?

The framers of the Constitution didn't expect one party to go completely un-American.

    The president isn't blocking anything.

The Senate is allowing all the evidence and testimony from the House inquiry in the trial.

If the Democrats think other witnesses need to be called, they should have done so in the inquiry.
