newly neutered cat sitting in litterbox but not using it?

my cats been sitting in his litterbox for long periods of time but not using it. he was just neutered today is this normal? or should i call the vet again

    Vets normally only release the cat after neutering once it has used a litter box..... not idea what your vets do, so it is worth a phne call, however it is only just done today, personally I would wait and see if it is doing the same thing tomorrow and if it is call them then

    Call the vet and ask. That is always the best thing to do. He may be in pain, or something else bothering him. Ask your vet.

    Give it a day. Maybe he is just in pain/uncomfortable and startled from the surgery. My cats had strange behavior after their spaying and neutering.
