If weed was legalized, would you support a 10 percent tax on it for rehab and mental health care?
I've heard where it has been legalized, the price drops by at least 1/3 to as much as 1/2, even with all the taxes on it.
I have two nephews, one is 37, the other is 36. Both were put on ritalin by the time they were 12 because their parents were to lazy to get involved in the boy's lives and they were doing poorly in school. Today both are on Adderall, not a lot, maybe two 5mg tabs per day. The 37 year old LOVES it. His brother, not so much. He probably takes 1 in the morning and 1/2 in the afternoon. He gives his older brother an extra 10-15 per month. They live together in a single room in a flop house, shared bathroom. The 36 year old has a live in girlfriend who is about 30. She probably takes 2 of his Adderall in a month, but can't get a script. The 36 year old also gets Xanax, something like three 1.0 mg per day. He loves his Xanax. He would like to get more but the Dr. says no. So what do all three do? They smoke a lot of weed. Each one smokes no less than a dub per day. They want weed legalized so they can smoke more. All three are obsessed with weed. They have part time retail jobs, make about $150 per week before taxes. They spend more money on weed than everything else combined. They get Medicaid, Section 8 and SNAP. They are all messed up. Yes it is they addicts? Of course they are! Partially blame the pills, but the weed is all they live for, it is by far the favorite of all three. They and others need help. Who should pay?

Weed sold should be taxed, but people should be allowed to grow their own to bypass the tax. Ironically, many people who start off growing weed end up getting into the hobby of gardening, which is very healthy and productive.

Weed should be affordable, taxed and regulated, I would suggest making various options available, such as brownies, weak and strong ones, weak and strong strains, drinks, options. Weed can cause psychosis, particularly if mixed with amphetamines, but you said these guys were holding down a job. $150 a week is ridiculous as an amount to ever get paid, period. All drugs should be legal and affordable, with a harm minimization goal, but people should be paid enough to survive, and get whatever they choose. Alcohol and cigarettes kill about 10,000 times more people than all illegal drugs combined, and if prescription drugs, when taken in the way they were meant to be actually caused death, you would hope they would at least tell people that. The minimum wage needs to be increased, welfare needs to be increased, and all drugs need to be legalized, or reasonable pharma alternatives.

Already been tried here in California and many of the weed shops did not pay the tax.
Plus many other people just grow their own to avoid the tax.

No. Take it out of the Billions they already pocket with 1% of the results they produce!
