    "Distrust" isn't the right word, many simply don't understand them.

    I think that if they perceive your gender as different from their own gender presentation, they can sometimes think you want to get into their pants, but that happens anyway. The trouble is if you show you want emotional closeness to people, they tend to conclude you also want sex. So yes, sometimes.
