Who is the greatest pass rusher not named Lawrence Taylor?

LT obviously is the GOAT, but who is the best one after him?

Deacon Jones? Reggie White? Derrick Thomas? Bruce Smith? J.J. Watt?

Rey Weeks once had 11 qb sacks and 15 tfl in one game in the Compton Youth League. The guy had a nose for the ball.

Ugh.  So hard to compare.  You specifically said PASS RUSHER, so as much as I admire Deacon Jones, I can't pick him.  In that era OTs just weren't as good as pass pro as they are now.

I think I'll got with Reggie White.  Pass offenses were pretty advanced by then, but White was so individually dominant.

Mean Joe Green, Ed Too Tall Jones, Jack Lambert, Jack Hamm, Jack Youngblood, Alan Page, and the list goes on.

As an Eagles fan, I would like to say Reggie White. However, the correct answer is Deacon Jones because his aggressive play and outsized personality inspired Steely Dan's 1977 song Deacon Blues. I don't remember anyone writing a song about Reggie, Derrick Thomas, Bruce Smith, or JJ Watt.

Reggie White maybe. It's a tough call.
