What happens if I cannot pay my entire DMV fine all at once in Nevada?

My insurance lapsed for one month and the DMV has fined me $500! They won't take payments but I have to cut in half next month...I can't get an answer from them!

Save up and pay it all when you have it.

Or go to court and speak to the judge about setting up a payment plan.

The DMV doesn't assess any fines, and the DMV has nothing to do with your auto insurance.

Insurance policies are cancelled for non-payment by your insurance company..  Fines are assessed by the Court. Contact the Traffic Court that assessed your fine, and ask if they will set up a monthly payment plan, so that you can pay your fine. Most courts will do so.

They have all  heard this before. Don't  expect much sympathy, but you have to go and explain your circumstances, . If they don't respond to your phone calls, you will have to appear in person

You say they won’t take payments, so figure it out. Pay in full.

All "what happens" and "what if" questions should always be addressed to a psychic. because normal people can't foretell the future.

I can only guess that "what happens" won't be good

Huh?  You have to cut WHAT in half ?

They will most likely suspend your license too

And the DMV doesn't assess any fines; the Court assesses fines. He owes money to the Court; he doesn't owe money to the DMV.
