Can I Use/Setup Chromebook w/o Google Account?

To use a Chromebook (first-time), can a person NOT have a Google account? I DON'T want to create one, in other words. Can you just "login" or use it without one?

Probably, but why do that. You're talking about a computer made by Google, for Google users. Perhaps you want a non-Google device?

No updates and no apps if you don't. What's the problem with having an account?

Chromebooks are owned by Google, so no, you can't use one without one of their accounts!

That's what I was thinking, too.
