Can anyone who drinks a lot of alcohol tell me if it is possible to do so and live for over a year with liver cirrhosis?

If answering can you say if you are American, thanks

Can someone here in Europe or Russia answer? Thanks

It's possible to live for many years as long as you stop drinking, if not then someone with cirrhosis won't live longer than a couple of years but it varies, how much it has progressed for one.

    I'm not American.

My brother died of cirrhosis at the age of 53.

Let that sink in while you continue to drink "a lot of alcohol".

"Your recovery depends on the type of cirrhosis you have and if you stop drinking. Only 50% of people with severe alcoholic cirrhosis survive 2 years, and only 35% survive 5 years. Recovery rate worsens after the onset of complications (such as gastrointestinal bleeding, ascites, encephalopathy)."

I was an American until I was 23 years old. I married a Canadian and have lived in Canada ever since 1972.
