Why is salad unhealthy these days?

In the good old days it used to be good for you. Now it’s full of chemicals and it can cause cancer.

They vegetables that they put in your salad every last one of them have been heavily treated with pesticides and herbicides and preservatives! the nutrition of the salad is pretty much cancelled out by all the chemicals that reside inside of the vegetation.

You've got it all wrong: vegetables are the healthy part, it's all the other crap that people put on "salads" that makes them unhealthy.  Smart people wash their vegetables before they eat them,

It's not. Eating vegetables and salads are great for you.

Why do you post childish nonsense that you can't back up with facts then turn around and award your alt account best answer?

Not if you grow your own organic veggies using organic fertilizer and no chemicals. You should try this this spring. Green leafy veggies are some of the easiest plants to grow.

Lettuce is still good for you, it's all the crap that they put on top of it that isn't.  Most commercial salad dressings are full of all kinds of unhealthy ingredients, not to mention the other non salad ingredients that restaurants routinely add to their salads to try to make them more marketable.  The irony is that the simple combination of olive oil, vinegar, a few herbs, and lettuce is extremely good for you.  The problem is that food marketers keep the word "salad" but then mess with the ingredients.  That applies to other foods such as "muffins" as well.  It's the dishonesty of marketing that is the main problem (they keep the name of the food but change all the ingredients such that it is no longer the same thing but it keeps the same name).
