It doesn't matter. Trump and the Republicans are about to cut both programs. Expect to see poor people and old people dying in the streets.

What do you want to know?

Medicare is a medical insurance program for everybody 65 and over. Its monthly premium comes off the top of a person's Social Security Retirement check.

Medicaid is a federal and state-funded health plan for low-income patients who are either too young to be enrolled in Medicare, or patients who can't afford private health insurance. Medical care is usually provided free of cost for those patients. It's sort of like welfare for the low income patients.

Medicaid is for the poor and indigent. Medicare is for the disabled and for people who have worked enough years to earn their social security. Go to social security.gov and it will answer most questions about the differences between the two on their list of most commonly asked questions page.

Medicare is for the 'elderly', anyone over 65.  It's a national insurance company.  You get some for free, you can buy more.

Medicaid is for the poor, for the (rapidly growing) number of people who can't afford healthcare.  It's run by the states with mostly federal money.  Each state does it a little differently.
