Did Hillary Clinton seek out and hire a British Spy to make up lies about Trump during the 2016 election? How much did she pay him?

    Not strictly, no.

What happened is that in 2015 a Republican Billionaire named Paul Singer, who was supporting the candidacy of Marco Rubio, hired a private research company named Fusion GPS to do what's known as "opposition research" against Trump, basically to dig up dirt on him.  By the spring, Rubio had dropped out, and without any candidate to support, Singer cut Fusion loose.  Fusion didn't want to let all their work go to waste and began looking for a new client.  They were eventually hired by Perkins Coie, a law firm which was employed by the DNC and the Clinton campaign.  Fusion continued digging up dirt on Trump.  The founder of Fusion, Glenn Simpson, thought that Trump's activities in Russia might be a source of some good dirt.  Trump had been seeking to do a major building project in Moscow since the Soviet era, but nothing had ever come of it.  Simpson thought there might be some mildly shady business dealings in there somewhere.  But Fusion lacked the expertise to look into this.  So they hired a British research firm called Orbis Business Intelligence.  One of the founders of Orbis was a former British spy named Christopher Steele.  He was a specialist in Russia, having ended his career with the government running their spying operations in Russia.  Steele was persona non grata in Russia but still had contacts there and began digging into what Trump had done in the country.  What he found was alarming.  According to his sources, Trump had been compromised by Russian intelligence, which possessed both personal and business blackmail material on him.

It was actually a Republican (many think it was Ted Cruz) and a right wing Washington newspaper, The Beacon, who first hired Fusion GPS, an American company who employed former British intelligence officer, to dig up dirt on Trump.

It was later that the DNC and Hillary took over the hunt.

And I have yet to read about anything in the Steele Dossier that has been proven 100% false. In fact much of it has proven to be true.

No.  The GOP started the in investigation into Trump and sold it to the Clinton campaign after Donald (Drumpf) Trump became the Republican candidate.  That should show Americans how much Republicans hate (Drumpf) Trump.

It's clear that you don't know the actual history of the dossier.

She didn't. He was paid by the Republican group that first hired him.
