    Wow ... interesting proposition I must say.  You know, many men do exactly what you are stating.  They will cross the street or move to a different are when they are approaching women alone at night in order to confer the feeling of safety onto them.  This comes from a sense of duty and benevolence and even "power".

    With power comes Responsibility.  And in today's world, women's power keeps increasing.  Especially in the realm of sex, dating, mating and all social interactions where women hold pretty much ALL the power.  So will women then "man up" to their Responsibilities to make men feel safe where they themselves hold  power in the same way that many  men do for women where men hold power?  We'll  have to see.  So far the answer provided don't look so positive ...
