Bernie might win among Democrats in Iowa, but among Iowans in general? How well do agrarian economies do under socialism,?

He's correct in his principles and problem is only in speed of implementation and misjudging his support, just as Trump does. Capitalism causes a growing skew of wealth and a corruption of government and all systems by that wealth, and that stage has arrived. Only a few people are educated enough to understand what actually occurs. The power of the country controls by fragmentation and disarray. Pointing out the failure of socialism while ignoring the success of properly balanced countries while the USA falls is a sign that you miss the point or may be an agent of those in power. Canada and Scandinavian countries offer all of its people basic human rights and minimal living standards and those countries are far better places than the USA.
The message from Pete Buttigieg is the most correct one, that we have to try to reunify the country under basic human values and principles and make progress towards equitable treatment of everyone. In a divided US Senate, which will probably look like a 51-49 no matter which party has the 51, it is not a time for upending the systems, but rather still correct the major plagues today in notable steps.

I don't think Bernie will win in Iowa, but yes, agrarian areas in the US are more conservative. They're less likely to vote Democrat to begin with and aren't going to vote for a socialist.

Let's try to be a little realistic here. Even if Bernie won the nomination and the general election - that doesn't turn the U.S. into a Communist regime. You've still got Republicans and moderate Democrats who would strongly oppose collective, state run agriculture.
Sanders is the only declared socialist in Congress and you've got maybe 8 radically left Dems in the House - so, no Soviet collectives anytime soon.
Fun fact - Vermont still has a decent agricultural sector and they're not worried about Bernie.

They don't seem to be complaining much about the government handouts (socialism/redistribution of wealth right?) they're getting on account of Trump's trade war.
It's laughable that you think Bernie supports agricultural collectivization and a centrally planned economy. It truly illustrates how completely out of touch you are.
Also, it seems as good a time as any to note that, according to the CIA, Americans and Soviet citizens ate about the same amount of food, with the Soviet diet being more nutritious.

How does Alaska survive? The state redistributes collected windfall taxes from oil companies to the people.

Iowans did not like what Bernie said to Warren about women being unable to get elected and are abandoning him in droves. Bernie will be lucky to get 10 percent of the vote in Iowa.
