State scores are not a decent measure. You have districts in Texas that blow area districts in Massachusetts. Ma as a state, consistently ranks fairly high in these things. Common Core decimated many states educational programs, forced them to spend on the new required materials that have now, been tossed in the trash. All states face different challenges in different regions yet for the most part. States are dictated to by the feds as to how to address their issues, when the states could address them much better and for less money.

I don't believe anything Yahoo prints as "news". it's usually slanted in favor of the Democrats. our children are under siege in blue states. they are sanctuary states, they teach children to accept more than one gender, they let trannies read to them in libraries, and teach global warming. they scare them into believing the world isn't going to be around by the time they grow up and if it is it will look like the Hunger Games. and lastly they are taught or rather brainwashed by socialist/progressive teachers who are fresh out of colleges taught by socialist/progressive professors. (hence AOC). our educational system needs a complete overhaul. the subjects taught should be strictly STEM, gym, art, music, and trades like sewing, cooking and woodshop. that's how it was when I grew up and it was done within a six hour day, 5 days a week. Old school is the best!

While I agree with your point that Republicans do not want to fund education because educated people don't vote for them, I have to point out that all the research shows that academic achievement is closely correlated to socioeconomic status. In states where a large number of families are poor, the test scores are going to be lower. That has nothing to do with what the schools or teachers do. It's that way all over the world. It's also a cycle. People who didn't get much education (which is generally true in agricultural areas) don't have the skills or knowledge to prepare their kids for school or help them while in school. Children from middle class homes with educated parents start school with much better language skills and more vocabulary, and that difference never gets wiped out.

American public school education is horrible regardless of which state it is in, the public schools were even worse under the obama's they should've never got involved with public schools, common core(making kids teach themselves while the teacher doesn't do sh*t) was America's biggest mistake with public education, if you want a good education then you're gonna have to pay to get it.

Sadly, resistance to education funding is right wing. I've seen cons suggest spending less on education will improve it. That's like saying, spending less on the infrastructure will improve it.

The US is ranked embarrassingly low internationally in education. That's the fault of the right wing that won't spend on it.

No American should be denied a college education because they can't afford it.

7 of the 10 poorest states are red too.

Your logic is extremely flawed, because those studies only tell us about the states. It doesn't tell us which people in those states are doing poorly.

You do know that just because a state appears red on the map doesn't mean that no Democrats live there . . . right?

Red states have a vested interest in keeping poor and working class kids uneducated.   They know that an educated electorate would not vote for the current Republican party.

Conservatives do not particularly value education.

Simply put Republican lawbreakers are not interested in helping anyone but themselves. They gave themselves a raise.
