Associative Property of Addition tells you that you can add a group of numbers in any order and get the same result. A simple example

(x + y) + z

is the same as:

x + (y + z)

In your case you have to be careful about the negative signs. Recall that subtraction is the same as adding the opposite, so:

(6 - 2i) - 3i

Is the same as:

[6 + (-2i)] + (-3i)

Now if you group the "i" together we get:

6 + [(-2i) + (-3i)]

And then simplifying this gives us:

6 + (-2i - 3i)

This is answer B from your multiple choice.
