Associative Property of Addition tells you that you can add a group of numbers in any order and get the same result.  A simple example

    (x + y) + z

    is the same as:

    x + (y + z)

In your case you have to be careful about the negative signs.  Recall that subtraction is the same as adding the opposite, so:

    (6 - 2i) - 3i

    Is the same as:

    [6 + (-2i)] + (-3i)

Now if you group the "i" together we get:

    6 + [(-2i) + (-3i)]

And then simplifying this gives us:

    6 + (-2i - 3i)

This is answer B from your multiple choice.
