Why is it impossible to be friends with everyone that you personally know?

No one has that kind of time. Becoming friends with someone, rather than just being acquaintances, requires an investment of time on both persons that is not possible.

Because friends take work. People are different types so forging those bonds to a specific individual may take a specific kind of effort

Can one say with certainty that the people they consider their "friends" actually WANT to be their friends? Are they only around as a number to their friend count? That along with the fact that anyone can dislike you for who knows HOW many reasons is enough to give you a social strike three...
