Do therapists make commission or have a quota for hospitalizing patients? How safe is it to see one?

No, therapists do not get anything from sectioning someone. If anything, they lose money, since their patient will be in the hospital and missing sessions. The vast majority of therapists almost never commit anyone. If someone says they are gong to do something terrible and the therapist is convinced they are telling the truth, the therapist has a legal obligation to try to keep everyone safe, which may involve committing them. Committing someone is like a last resort, and rarely done.

A quota for hospitalizing patients? The most expensive of all treatments? Insurance companies prefer the least expensive treatment.
