Is it a bad sign if a job doesn’t call you right away ?

Is it a bad sign if a job doesn’t call you right away for an interview? I applied to a company a week ago and I haven’t heard anything back yet. Is this a bad sign?

No.  A bad sign is when you get to orientation and witness the hiring manager going down the list and calling every single person on that list one right after the other.  It's desperation meets desperation coming together and living crappily ever after.

Not necessarily. Some may have to keep the posting open for say, 30 days and won't start calling candidates until that 30 days is up. There's any number of reasons why they don't contact you immediately.

Well, it's not a good sign.

There’s no way to know. It could mean they’re not interested and have no intention of calling you.  It could also mean that they just haven’t gotten around to reviewing your application yet, for any number of reasons.

The important thing is that if you need a job, you shouldn’t wait around to hear back from this company before submitting applications elsewhere.

It's not necessarily your fault if they don't call you yet after a few weeks or so. It is either you lack some qualifications though or there is someone else they just think who's fitting for their said position. In the meantime, go look for other jobs to apply where you can have time to excel compared to your prior application/will accept you for your skills and credentials.
