Royal marine commuting from London?

I’m looking at royal marine bases , and there’s not a single one near (South-east) London. The nearest ones are in devon I believe which would take 2 hours a day (or more) to commute to. Am i missing something? Anyone who lives in London and is a marine , any insight would be appreciated

You cannot commute you will stay on the base you are posted to.

Miltary personell live on base or close by, so no you will not be commuting, you sign up and belong to the service...'if' you are employed on base you might be two weeks on two weeks off, if you are employed 'away' from base it could be for 9 months, really depends on the job you do/position you are in

Its not a 9-5 job, you live on base if not away training or fighting in overseas wars

Sure - you'd need to move out of London

Generally if you're serving in the military, you'll be housed on base.

Correct, that's where they are. That is why marines don't live in London.

Are you serious.? You live on base for several months while training, you don't go home.  After that it is a 7 day week with time off when you get it. it is not a 9 to 5 job with weekends off.

Try googling, not the right fit for the RM all you are asking is how much time off, these are an elite service.

Yes you are missing something, the fact that if you are in the Royal Marines you wouldn't be commuting you would be living on the base.

Of course. The marines and the enemy all pack up at 4.30 sharp on a friday. Rules of war. See you 9.30 Monday chaps.
