Should college students involve themselves in community service?

Certainly. College students should get involved in their community, even if living in dorms & your "home" is elsewhere. Plus student organizations often get involved in community service projects, so you develop relationships with fellow students while doing something for the community as well.

Not if there isn't an explicit requirement for it. Focus on graduation.

Yes, they should. Many colleges and degree grams now REQUIRE at least one semester or 2 of community service or they re require an unpaid internship. This is NOT voluntary. It is required to graduate.
The University is Tulane. The college is the College of liberal arts. The engineering colleges and bachelors degree programs probably have something similar.Source(s): Tulane Alumna, Sophie H. Newcomb Memorial College classes of 1975 and 1980.

Sure, all people should. I'm not sure exactly what you are trying to ask here, but if you are asking if a college should mandate community service of its students then that is something definitely up for debate.
