Half of Deborah’s poker chips are from Bally’s, one-fourth of her chips are from MGM, she has an equal number of chips from Caesars, Harrahs, and Mirage. If Deborah has 7 chips from the Mirage, how many chips does she have altogether?

Let x = totals chips she has

B = (1/2)x

MGM= (1/4) x

she has 7 chips from each Caesars, Harrah, and the mirage

3*7 = 21

so if this is all the chips she has

B + MGM = x((1/2) + (1/4)) = 3/4(x)

(3/4)x + 21 = x

x - (3/4)x = 21

(1/4) x = 21

x = 4*21 = 84 chips in total

M=H=C.

C=7 thus M+H+C=21 which we know is 1/4 of her total chips.

.(1/2 are B, 1/4 are MGM leaving 1/4 for M+H+C).

.

Thus, 21*4 = 84.
