A 28 kg gun is standing on a frictionless surface. The gun fires a 52.6 g bullet with a

muzzle velocity of 311 m/s.

The positive direction is that of the bullet.

Calculate the momentum of the bullet immediately after the gun was fired.

    KEb = 0.0526/2*311^2 = 2544 joule

    Mg = -Mb = -16.36 kg*m/sec

    recoil speed Vg = -Mg/mg = -16.36 / 28 = -0.584 m/sec

    KEg = 28/2*0.584^2 = 4.78 joule
