Another name for a community college, rarely used now.

Mostly now they are called community college. "Junior college" was the first two years of university bachelor's degree programs. The term has pretty much become obsolete, and community college is the currently applicable term.

It is either an antiquated/regional term for schools now often referred to as community colleges. They only give out vocational certifications and/or associate degrees. They can also be used as a place to earn 2 years of credits relatively cheaply before transferring to a 4 or more year college/university to finish a degree.
It could also be is a person attending a four year or more college/university in their third year at the school, (at least on how the school expects you to have earned X amount of credits by the start of the 3rd year.) if you are missing a few words.
