Is it normal for a non special needs person to feel uncomfortable being around special needs people in social activities or classes?

Not necessarily. It's all down to your exposure and understanding of SEN people, but there usually aren't many situations that you should be uncomfortable in (unless they're being inappropriate or disrespectful) so I suggest getting more exposure/education with SEN people

I think yes, for some younger people, only because they don’t understand. I call it ‘ignorance’.
