If I put a high drain battery in a low drain device will iy last any longer ?

The answer should be obvious but not necessarily.  I am just more curious than anything.

    Not necessarily. The high drain battery is capable of supplying a higher current. To do so, its chemical mix inside it may be optimised for current rather than durability so it might not last as long as a suitable low drain battery.

    but the results really depend on the device and how it is used.

  • Probably not.  Battery life is down to battery capacity.  High drain batteries usually have lower capacities than low drain batteries.

    On a use per charge basis, no - that is purely down to the battery capacity (amp hours or milliamp hours).

    If you mean overall lifetime, possibly; though I think the average charge and depth of cycle are still the main factors.
