Can artists have different art styles?

Can artists have different art styles instead of sticking to just one particular form of art?

Of course they can. Look at Picasso.

They usually go through phases rather than keep switching, but somebody who works as a commissioned portraitist might have a different style for lother work - Hockney's work varies tremendously in this regard. Artists do get known for a particular look which is whey they tend to focus on one style or genre.

I think artists have very broad creative minds so expressing art in many different forms can be even be more artistic.
