If a couple with 1 child gets a divorce an the house is in the husbands name. Will the wife an child have any rights to that home?

Depends on where they live. Divorce laws are different everywhere and it often comes down to what a judge thinks.

Many states are community property states which means that homes are jointly owned. You need to find out if your state is.

The husbands name is not relevant. In general ALL matrimonial property is joint and is the subject of any divorce settlement

The child is a red herring. The child is not married. In the divorce, most states...the judge would order both husband and wife to move out of the home. The "house" (technically land, with the house as an "improvement") is sold and if there are any profits, the profits are split 50/50 between husband and wife. The kid doesn't get a share of that arrangement. In rare cases, a judge might allow one spouse or the other to "buy" the house by giving 50% of the appraised value to the other spouse in cash. But even then, you need to prove that the two of you are not living together before a divorce decree is signed.
